What counts as an emergency

If you’re not sure whether it’s an emergency, call us anyway — we’ll help you figure out the next step.

  1. Pain that won’t quit — A toothache that’s severe, throbbing, or keeping you up at night is worth a call.
  2. Broken or knocked-out teeth — A cracked, chipped, or knocked-out tooth should be looked at quickly.
  3. Swelling or injury — Swelling in your gums, jaw, or face can be a sign of something that needs prompt care.

What to do right now

First, call us at (501) 448-2386. We’ll talk you through what’s happening and tell you what to do before you arrive.

If a tooth has been knocked out, pick it up by the crown — not the root — and gently rinse it if it’s dirty. If you can, place it back in the socket and hold it there, or keep it tucked in a little milk until you reach us.

For a broken tooth, rinse with warm water and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek to ease swelling. For pain, an over-the-counter pain reliever can help in the meantime.

Should I go to the ER or call you?

For anything life-threatening — trouble breathing or swallowing, serious facial trauma, or uncontrolled bleeding — call 911 or go to the emergency room. For tooth pain, broken or knocked-out teeth, swelling, and most dental problems, calling us is usually the faster path to the right care.

How fast can you see me?

We make every effort to see emergencies the same day. Call us as early as you can — the sooner we hear from you, the sooner we can get you in and get you comfortable.

I knocked out a tooth. What do I do?

Pick it up by the crown, not the root, and gently rinse it if it’s dirty. If you can, place it back in the socket, or keep it in a little milk, and call us right away. Acting quickly gives the best chance of saving the tooth.

What if it happens after hours?

Call us and follow the instructions on our message — we’ll let you know how to reach us and what to do in the meantime. For anything severe or life-threatening, don’t wait: call 911 or head to the ER.
