Learn more about Dental crownsA conservative repair that blends into your smile.
When a cavity or small area of damage needs repair, a tooth-colored composite filling can restore the tooth without calling attention to the dental work. We remove what is unhealthy, preserve as much sound tooth structure as possible, and explain exactly what we are treating before we begin.

Composite is a tooth-colored restorative material bonded directly to the tooth. It can repair small to moderate areas of decay or damage on front or back teeth while blending with the surrounding enamel.
At Elite Dental, we place composite fillings rather than metal amalgam fillings. We do not replace an existing restoration simply because it is old or a different color. We recommend replacement when examination and appropriate X-rays show decay, leakage, fracture, wear, or another clinical reason.
A filling should solve the problem without removing more healthy tooth than necessary. If the damage is too extensive for a filling to hold predictably, we will explain why a crown or another restoration may be more appropriate.
Yes. We place composite fillings that are selected to blend with the natural tooth.
Many fillings are completed with local anesthetic for comfort. The need depends on the location and depth of the repair. We’ll explain what we recommend before treatment.
No filling lasts forever. Its lifespan depends on its size and location, your bite, home care, diet, and habits such as grinding. We check fillings during regular exams so problems can be addressed early.
Not always. When decay or damage has removed too much supporting tooth structure, a crown may provide a more dependable repair. If the nerve is involved, root canal treatment may also need to be considered.
No. We do not recommend replacing a filling only because it is old or metal. We evaluate its condition and recommend treatment when there is a clinical reason.
